Founder & Principal
Charles l Silbernagel is the founder and Principal of ClS Architects. He received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Tulane University in 1984 and his Masters degree during 2004 and started ClS Architects in June of 1990. For the past 30 years, Charles has acquired a wide and understanding of the industry and has achieved an outstanding history in residential and commercial design. He has a comprehensive of code regulations and local zoning ordinances for Jefferson, Orleans and St Tammany Parish’s as well as extensive experience and knowledge handling agencies such as the Vieux Carre Commission (VCC) and Historic District Landmarks Commission (HDLC).
Lead Interior Designer
Heather Silbernagel-Somers is our principal interior designer born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from Louisiana State University, she worked for a well-known Interior Design firm in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for a few years before joining the ClS Architects team in 2011. Since then she has developed and expanded the interiors department of the company with the addition of a furniture showroom located on Metairie Road. Her trademark style is evident through the sophisticated use of texture, color, and light, creating environments in which people love to live and work. Her distinguished designs can be seen in luxury homes and commercial spaces throughout Louisiana.
Born in New Hampshire and raised in North Carolina, Julia was drawn to New Orleans for its embrace of historic architecture and unique culture. She graduated from Tulane University’s School of Architecture and joined the ClS team in 2015. As a Staff Architect, Julia works with clients at each stage of the design process, from the initial concept to the final drawings, to create results that surpass the client’s expectations. In her free time she enjoys cooking and exploring her new home of New Orleans.
Shira Latch is a recent graduate of Tulane University where she earned her Master of Architecture degree in 2016. She was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. Shira knew she wanted to be an architect since middle school, when her engineering teacher told her about a profession that could combine her passion for art and design with her newfound love of technical drawings and spatial reasoning. She is currently working towards her path to licensure and becoming LEED certified. In her free time, Shira enjoys collage and film photography.
Brent Talavera has had a passion for art and design as long as she can remember. She was born and raised in Gulfport Mississippi. She cultivated her natural design talent while attending Mississippi State University where she studied Interior Design. Her design style can best be described as classic, elegant, and timeless design. She creates the perfect balance of the past and the present, letting her love for nature, architecture, and function greatly influence her work. Her work is consistently reflective of her client's wants and needs, always resulting in beautifully cultivated spaces.
Colette Silbernagel is the Office Manager at ClS Architects. Her responsibilities include AP/AR, keeping the firm and employees in compliance with City, State and Federal regulations, manage finances, bookkeeping, payroll, human resources, and she provides administrative support to staff. When not in the office, Colette enjoys spending time with her grandson, Joseph.
